Volunteer Opportunities


We have an incredible workforce who share a love for God and a love for people.  They may work in the office, on a basketball court, in a classroom, our outside.  They may work with adults, babies, preschoolers, or teens.  They may work both behind the scenes or on the platform.  If you are interested in joining one of our teams, we would love to hear from you!  Click on the title for more information, or scroll down to read more.

Altar Counselors.  Our altar counselors assist during the invitation and response part of our worship service by praying with and counseling with those who request prayer or are ready to make a decision.  Training is necessary and is provided a few times each year.  Contact Pastor Jack Marslender for more info.

Basketball Coaches.  Our growing sports ministries require coaches who are knowledgeable of the game and who can work with children.  (A background check is done after the required volunteer form is turned in.)  We conduct our own training.  We need coaches for Kid's Division (Kindergarten - Sixth Grade) and in our Teen Division.  For information in working with children, contact Amy Zimmerle.  For information in working with teens, contact Holly Kilfoyle.

Basketball Referees.  We have a growing sports ministry.  We conduct our own referee training and certification process for those who are already familiar with the game of basketball.  Referees are needed in four different divisions--from Kindergarten to High School.  (A background check is required and is done after a volunteer form is turned in.)  Games can be anytime on Saturdays.   Placements are made after training and certification.  Contact Pastor Jack Marslender for more information.

Basketball Scorekeepers.  We need scorekeepers to operate our scoreboard during basketball games.  Some familiarity with basketball rules is required, training is offered, and the scoreboard is easy to learn.  Games resume in September of 2010 and last for one hour on Saturdays.  Scorekeepers usually do 2-4 games on selected Saturdays.  Contact Pastor Jack Marslender for more information. 

Building & Ground Team.  We maintain a list of work that needs to be done on our buildings and property.  We also have a team that plans and oversees all of the work.  At any given time, we have jobs requiring plumbing, electrical, painting, and yardwork skills.  Contact the church office for more information. 

Children's Check-in/Out Nursery Clerks. Individuals will help families locate and check in to preschool classrooms for DiscipleCare at 8:15 or 10:45 am and for Bible Study 9:30 am. Tasks include assigning pagers, maintaining pagers, labeling children’s belongings, and copying sign in sheets.  Contact Amy Zimmerle for more info.

Children's Clean & Tidy Team Members. We need volunteers to organize clean andsanitize the toys and classroom furniture on a weekly basis. Tasks include wiping down chairs and tables and washing/rinsing toys, removing/changing crib sheets, and removing broken or unsafe toys from classrooms.   Contact Amy Zimmerle for more info.

Children's Creative/Artistic Team Members. Team members will create, update, post publicity materials for events and ministries on bulletin boards in classrooms and other approved and designated locations. Team members will work closely with and under direction of Children’s Ministries Director. Contact Amy Zimmerle for more info.  

Children's Resource/Supply Maintenance Team Members. Team members will keep an inventory, organize, distribute, and manage supplies needed for classrooms on a weekly basis. Team members will insure classrooms are stocked with necessary art supplies, first aid equipment, diapers, wipes, and other special resources as activities require from week to week and month to month.  Contact Amy Zimmerle for more info.

Choir Member.  We have a large and active adult worship leading choir which leads in our Sunday morning worship services as well as at special services and events throughout the year.  The choir meets in Building C on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Contact Mary Kaye Wonner for more information.

Christmas Set up Team:  At Christmas our Music Ministry’s focus is an musical celebration that includes all of our choirs in an event that reaches out to our community with the Gospel.  The evening culminates in a “Fellowship Under the Stars” with lots of goodies and hot apple cider. We hold this event on three evenings and need help in setting up tables, simple decorations, beverages, and goodie trays.  Contact Mary Kaye for more info. 

Concessions Workers.  We sell a variety of concessions during our basketball games.  The funds help us offset the costs of our children's and teen ministries.  Contact Amy Zimmerle (children) or Holly Kilfoyle for more information.

DiscipleCare Workers.  Our DiscipleCare workers provide loving care and supervision for children birth to pre-kindergarten during both of our services on Sunday morning (8:15 and 10:45 am), during discipleship Sunday evenings (5:45 pm), during choir/prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings (6:15 pm), and other special events and services.  Weekly and monthly rotations are available in all areas. A volunteer form, background check, and annual supervision training are required prior to serving in a classroom.  Contact Amy Zimmerle for more info.

Fall Festival Workers. On October 26, we need volunteers to help set-up event (tables, booths, etc…), run booths/events, distribute and cook food and drinks, pick up trash, provide security, and clean up for one of our largest outreach events of the year.   Contact Amy Zimmerle for more info.

Hospital Team.  Our hospital team visits members in the hospital, brings them a Bible, and prays with them.  Occasional training sessions and meetings are held.  You can choose to visit on certain days or times, or be available as needed.  Contact church office for more information.

Music Camp Workers.  Each summer we have a week long music camp that culminates in an exciting dramatic musical.  While we are always looking for those who can contribute their musical gifts, we are also looking for individuals who simply love children and are willing to help with Bible Study, recreation & games, set-design, costumes, props, as well as sound and technical needs.  Contact Mary Kaye for more information.

Music Publicity Team Team members work closely with Mary Kaye to brainstorm, create, and plan for an excellent publicity strategy for all music-related presentations throughout the year.  While a portion of the team needs to be “creative,” some of the work simply involves posting publicity pieces in strategic places.  Banners and the marquee are also part of the strategy.  Contact Mary Kaye for more information.

Office Volunteer.  Office volunteers work the front desk during office hours.  They answer the phone, interact with guests, and perform office duties such as filing, copying, and entering computer data.  Most work 1 or more 4 hour shifts (8:00 am to 12:00 pm or 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm) per week.  Periodic training is offered.  Contact Naomi Hutchison for more information.

Playground Maintenance Team.  We want to keep our playground safe and clean for our members, visitors, and community.  Team members pick up trash and debris, rake the sand, cut grass, and pull weeds on a weekly basis. They also remove graffiti and inspect equipment for damage or repairs quarterly.  Contact Amy Zimmerle for more information.

Playground Monitors.  We want to keep our playground safe and make sure that children are well supervised in our playing areas.  We need volunteers to monitor both playgrounds 15-20 minutes before and after our services on Sunday morning, evening, and Wednesday nights.  Volunteers will need to complete a volunteer form, complete a background check, and receive supervision training annually.  Contact Amy Zimmerle for more information.

Prayer team.  Members can be anyone of any age who will set aside an hour per week to pray for others. Prayer requests will be sent out via email or a paper copy can be picked up in the church office by Wednesday of each week. Security Team.  Our security team patrols the parking lot during worship services and class times, making sure that our people and possessions are secure.  Security team members wear an orange safety vest to be recognized.  They also direct cars and people as needed, welcoming people to our church.  Contact Harvey Quackenbush for more information.

Set Design Team.  Several times per year, our music ministry needs those who are gifted in carpentry, creative design, and are simply good with their hands in the building of sets, hanging fabric, creative lighting, props, etc.  Individuals will work closely with Mary Kaye to brainstorm, create and design sets and staging that will enhance the musical and dramatic presentations.  Our Christmas Musical Celebration is our greatest need.  Contact Mary Kaye for more info.

Sound Technicians.  We are looking for individuals who have an ear for music, a desire for excellence, and a willingness to be trained to help make our worship services and special presentations and events even more excellent in regards to overall sound.  Contact Mary Kaye for more info.

Ushers.  Our ushers assist before, during, and after worship services.  They help people find their way, direct guests, and pick up the offering and Connection Cards.  Contact Phil Johnson for more info. 

Bible Adventure Week Workers.  There are many places to volunteer during Bible Adventure Week.  We will need classroom leaders, recreation leaders, people to help prepare and distribute snacks, people to decorate/make props, people to help with registration, and even help with follow up with families following the week.  Some positions may require a volunteer form and background check be completed.  For more information please contact Amy Zimmerle.

Visitation Team.  Our visitation team contacts first time guests to welcome then to our church and answers their questions, encouraging them to return and expressing our interest in them and their needs.  They talk to them on the phone and then offer to make a home visit.  For more information, contact Phil Johnson.

Welcome Team.  We have a team of greeters who welcome people to our church, hand out bulletins, and direct guests and members to classes, the nursery, and the worship center.  Periodic training is offered.  Contact Phil Johnson for more information.
